Why celebrate in early May, you may be asking?  The reasons:

AN END OF SCHOOL YEAR CHANCE TO SAY THANK YOU!

While not all youth workers work on an academic calendar, we believe that the end of the typical academic year is a great time to celebrate those who work with children and youth.  And…

A PARTNERSHIP WITH CYC-NET!

With partners CYC-Net, an international network of child and youth care workers, and the ACYCP (The Association for Child & Youth Care Practice, Inc.), the day of thanks lines up with CYC-Net’s week of recognizing the field of child and youth care work all around the world.  We firmly believe youth work organizations should be working together and wanted to model this effort by moving to the first Thursday in May as part of this international movement to raise awareness and thankfulness around the field of youth work.
